Why do you need to professionally clean stone flooring?

You may have asked yourself the question, why do you need to professionally clean stone flooring? Like all flooring needs, cleaning helps prevent damage. Stone and other hard floors need the same love your carpets do. Grit and sand can be blown in from doors and windows. People walk this abrasive material across the floor area, and it can create tiny dents and scratches. Over time this will become noticeable; if you have a regular cleaning plan in place, as you should have with your upholstery, carpet and rug cleaning, you can keep the flooring looking beautiful and lasting a lot longer.

Captain Rug Wash can clean, protect and help you maintain floors such as sandstone, marble, granite, terracotta, limestone, terrazzo. His hard floor cleaning also covers Amtico, Karndean and Altro flooring and Altro safety flooring.

Captain Rug Wash carries out his stone floor and hard floor cleaning for domestic and commercial properties. He cleans many stone floors that have been in properties for generations. With a regular cleaning plan, they can last for years. He doesn’t normally get involved in the grinding and re-polishing of stone but does offer professional deep cleaning and protecting of stone floors and hard floor surfaces. His stone floor protectors are either a sealer, which is a product that seals the top of the stone to prevent spillages from becoming stains. Or an impregnation solution that will soak into the tile of the stone and give much deeper protection. The impregnator will last a lot longer than the sealer.

Captain Rug Wash use British made stone cleaning solutions that are designed primarily for stone floor cleaning and maintaining. The flooring is always swept up first to get rid of any dry soil and debris. Then he uses your chosen cleaning solution in a sprayer and rotary machine to agitate the cleaning solution deeper into the pile. He has several different brushes for the machine, all depending on what the stone is and what level of dirt and grease he is dealing with. Once the tiles have been scrubbed and the grout cleaned, he fully drys the floor. Customers underfloor heating should be turned off 24 hours before cleaning. The Captain will then lay several layers of our impregnator or sealer onto the floor. Sometimes the impregnator will need a little buff on the last coat.

He recommends that all hard flooring has a maintenance programme. This is where he does the first clean, after the first clean he leaves you with a bottle of stone cleaner for you to use on your floor for your weekly cleaning routine. In 12 months’, he will come back and reclean the area and reapply one layer of impregnator to keep it fully protected. After a year if you choose the sealer option, he will need to remove all the sealer and reseal the floor after cleaning.
